The Iris Prize is a global, annual award for young people working to accelerate action to protect and restore nature anywhere in the world.

  • Who. 14 to 24 year olds. Individuals or groups can apply.
  • What. Projects that best embody the spirit of The Iris Project - championing the protection and restoration of nature, and the rights of those who defend it.
  • When. Applications will be open from March 1st to May 31st, 2023.
  • Where. Applicants can live and enter from anywhere in the world.
  • Why. Nature restoration takes a variety of forms - from traditional land stewardship, to innovative technological solutions. As such, The Iris Project will reward new ideas and established projects, hoping to overcome the circumstantial barriers that too often prevent young people from being able to advocate for nature- related change.

The prize categories. All three prizes are paired with mentorship and bespoke capacity building programs worth $10,000 per person:

  • The Seed Prize - Awarded to a new idea, not yet established - $5000.
  • The Stem Prize - Awarded to an existing project, established on a small scale - $10,000.
  • The Iris Prize - Awarded to an established project, with the potential to replicate and scale - $15,000.
